2010 Nowak Vacation to
Maine, New Hampshire & Vermont

Friday/Saturday, June 11-12

Friday we drove to Washington, DC on our first leg of the trip home. We arrived at our dear friend's house at around 6:30 PM. The McCormacks welcomed us with hugs, great food and lively conversation as it has been over a year since we've seen one another.

Saturday included a beautiful drive through the mountains of Virginia down I-81, but it also had its challenges with severe thunderstorms and an accident involving a wrong-way driver and over-turned vehicle with entrapment. Waiting was rough considering we had left temperatures in the 50's but now were sitting on the Interstate with temperatures around 90. It was much worse for those in the accident, though. So, we rejoice in safe travels despite delays occasionally.

We are home now and so glad that we took this trip. The northeast is so beautiful and every twist and turn of the roadway presented new experiences, sights and opportunities to enjoy the culture and beauty found in this historic part of our country. I'll fondly remember the rolling mountains, rugged coastlines, quaint villages, friendly people, covered bridges, moose and a wonderful time spent with Sharon (with whom I am celebrating 30 years of marriage in one week).

We drove a few clicks shy of 5,000 miles in two weeks and took 2,962 pictures. We hope you enjoyed going along with us via this trip report. Many more images will be processed on GADOODLES and Facebook in the coming weeks. So keep an eye out for them.
